A comforting and hearty Shepherd’s Pie made effortlessly in the air fryer with a rich, savory meat filling and a crispy, golden mashed potato topping.

Ingredients

For the Meat Filling:
  • 1 lb ground lamb (or beef)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ cup beef broth
For the Mashed Potato Topping:
  • 2 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
  • Boil the potatoes in salted water for 10–12 minutes until tender.
  • Drain and mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
Step 2: Cook the Meat Filling
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground lamb (or beef) until browned.
  • Add onion and garlic, cooking for 2–3 minutes until soft.
  • Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and beef broth.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes, then mix in frozen vegetables and cook for another 2 minutes.
Step 3: Assemble the Shepherd’s Pie
  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3–5 minutes.
  • Spoon the meat mixture into an air fryer-safe baking dish (about 6–7 inches).
  • Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the meat.
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese (if using).
Step 4: Air Fry the Shepherd’s Pie
  • Place the dish in the air fryer and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
